Gerrit Rietveld Red Blue Chair by Cassina

This numbered edition of the red and blue armchair designed by Gerrit Rietveld was manufactured by Cassina in the 1980s. There is a stamped label with the edition #110 on the underside of the seat. Rietveld, a Dutch furniture designer, architect and one of the principal members of the Dutch artistic movement called De Stijl designed his famous red blue chair in 1918.  The color scheme of primary colors associated with Piet Mondrian, was applied to it circa 1923. The piece was reproduced by Casssina in the 1980's and remains a collectors item for it's iconic design and history.
