Large Butler Serving Tray
Large Butler Serving Tray
This tray is what is termed a butler tray because it is shaped to fit against the body with two handles. The silver plated tray is beautifully engraved with cornucopias dripping with flora, fauna and fruit. Ribbon bows and a trellis pattern add to the details of the face of the tray. Along the border are intricate well developed floral patterns transitioning the design elements into the well articulated silver caste handles. The handles have a delightful design with lovebirds at the top of the handles and two cherubs holding cornucopias overflowing in little fruits leading back to the platter. The platter has a makers mark and date, reading: "Reed & Barton 1867 Strength insured."
