Pennsylvania Blanket Box/ Dowry Chest

This piece is a classic example of a Pennsylvania blanket box or dowry chest with painted elements and carved feet. It has three exterior drawers and an interior till or safe. From the wear and techniques used, this piece could be from as early as 1720. The chest has iron hinges and the remnants of an iron lock. Newer handles have been used for the three drawers.

Materials and Techniques: Pine, Iron, Brass.

Condition: This piece has signs of age and use including: paint loss, rubbing, oxidation, cracking, shrinkage and signs of old repairs. Piece is cleaned and ready for installation and use.
