Chippendale Style Two-Pedestal Desk
Chippendale Style Two-Pedestal Desk
This handsome two pedestal desk is a great example of Chippendale style furniture with incredible craftsmanship and delicate patterns in the flaming of the Mahogany wood. The drawers have decorative brass rosette drop pull handles with inset brass escutcheons. Note the details of the inlaid patterns along the boarders of the drawers and the nicely carved edge on the desktop. The green leather top has gilt tooling in two bands with interior strands. The maker label is found in the center drawer, S & H Jewell. S & H Jewell were based in the Holborn area of London and were recorded as cabinet-makers from 1830-1840, and as late as 1894.
